The world of compliments is multifaceted. There are at least two noticeable sides: giving or receiving. We may find it difficult to give compliments or we may have a difficult time receiving compliments. There is an art to doing either one.
One can imagine how muddled communication can become if we are receiving a compliment from someone that has a difficult time giving one, especially if we are the person that doesn’t know how to receive the compliment.
Compliments can give us guidance on how others are affected by our work. They provide important feedback. Also, if we can receive the compliment, it encourages our teammate to risk by contributing positively to the company culture.
